LH Lean - A Semaglutide Blend Q&A

What are the effects of Semaglutide?

Studies suggest that semaglutide helps with:

  • Delaying stomach emptying
  • Control of cravings
  • Improves control of eating
  • Reduces appetite
  • Increasing insulin release
  • Improves glycemic control

It is most effective as part of a comprehensive weight loss program that may include exercise, behavioral changes, calorie restriction, and dietary adjustments.

Who can use Semaglutide?

If you are healthy and not pregnant or lactating, or do not have a known allergy to any of the ingredients, you should be able to use it safely. During your consultation, be sure to discuss any other medications you are taking, allergies, or chronic health conditions you have prior to using semaglutide. Tell your provider if you or anyone in your family has or has ever had MTC or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2; a condition that causes tumors in more than one gland in the body).

Who is not a candidate for treatment?

  • You are pregnant
  • You are planning on getting pregnant within the next 6 months
  • You are breastfeeding
  • You are a Type 1 Diabetic

How is Semaglutide taken?

Typically, it is a once-weekly injectable, but your particular dose and protocol will be determined by your provider.

How do I self-administer a subcutaneous (SQ) injection?

  1. Gather your equipment, including the syringe (containing medicine), and an alcohol swab.
  2. Wash your hands with soap and running water. Dry them well.
  3. Choose a location on your abdomen or inner thigh for the injection. An abdominal injection should be 5 centimeters away from your navel.
  4. Use alcohol to clean the skin. Let it dry.
  5. Remove the cap from the needle.
  6. Hold the syringe like a pencil close to the site, with your fingers off the plunger.
  7. Pinch a fold of skin between your thumb and fingers at the desired location with your non-dominant hand.
  8. Place the syringe perpendicular to the desired injection site. Rapidly insert the needle into the pinched area of skin until the needle is buried and no longer visible.
  9. Slowly press down on the plunger of the syringe with your index finger; advance until the syringe is empty. This allows the medicine to go into the fatty tissue. Be sure to hold the skin fold as you inject to ensure the medication is not injected into the muscle.
  10. Remove the needle at the same angle of insertion.
  11. Release the skin fold.

Does LH offer an alternative to semaglutide?

Yes! We also offer Tirzepatide at the discretion of our providers.

How does Tirzepatide differ from Semaglutide?

Tirzepatide is a dual-agonist! Tirzepatide is the main ingredient within a once-weekly injection that may serve as an ALTERNATIVE to semaglutide. Like semaglutide, it is an GLP-1 agonist, but it also contains a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor. Tirzepatide activates the receptors of GLP-1 and GIP, both of which are incretin hormones. When GIP is combined with effects of a GLP-1 agonist, it can result in improved effects of metabolic dysfunction, including weight, blood sugar, and lipids. Simultaneously, it also affects glucagon secretion. The activation of GLP-1 receptors suppresses the release of glucagon while the GIP receptors activation causes the release of glucagon.

What is the cost?

Tirzepatide is $900 per month (4 injections administered weekly).
